The Lizards Lacrosse Home Games you’ll want to See
Denver Outlaws on April 21
The New York Lizards lacrosse season opens against the Denver Outlaws at 7 p.m. on Saturday, April 21 at Shuart Stadium. The Outlaws, who lost to the Ohio Machine in the 2017 finals, will come to New York with guns blazing. The Lizards D will have to shut down Eric Law, who led the league in scoring last year, if they want to open the season on the right foot.
Atlanta Blaze on May 6
The Atlanta Blaze come to town on Sunday, May 6 for a 5 p.m. contest. Atlanta, Major League Lacrosse’s newest franchise, are hungry to rebound from a losing 2017 season. With new head coach, Liam Banks, and returning stars, Dylan Donahue and Adam Ghitelman, the Blaze could be dangerous this year.
Florida Launch on June 9
The Florida Launch touch down on Long Island on Saturday, June 9 at 7 p.m. The Lizards will be looking for revenge after Florida edged New York out of a playoff spot last season.
Charlotte Hounds on June 16
The Lizards will host the Charlotte Hounds on Saturday, June 16 at 7 p.m. The Hounds are another team who is looking for redemption after narrowly missing MLL’s four-team playoff last year. The ‘Zards will aim to repeat last season’s series sweep of the Hounds.
Ohio Machine on June 30
The reigning Major League Lacrosse Champions, the Ohio Machine, will face-off against the Lizards on Saturday, June 30 at 7 p.m. at Shuart Stadium.
The contest will feature match-ups of some of professional lacrosse’s best players. Machine midfielders Peter Baum and Tom Schreiber will try to out-dodge Lizards stars, like Paul Rabil and Steve DeNapoli.
Boston Cannons on July 19
The Lizards will host one of their oldest rivals, the Boston Cannons, on Saturday, June 23 at 6 p.m. The two teams, who have been playing each other since 2001, split last season’s series. Since both Rabil, Will Manny and newcomer Matt Landis are former Cannons, the game is likely to be fiercely competitive.
Chesapeake Bayhawks on August 4
The ‘Zards close the 2018 MLL regular season with a home game on Saturday, August 4 at 7 p.m. against longtime rival the Chesapeake Bayhawks. Matt Danowski and the rest of the Bayhawks will be making their first visit to New York since 2016. These two squads have had many epic battles in the past, including several title bouts. With the playoffs right around the corner, this game could make or break the season.
From the home opener to the season’s final game, the 2018 New York Lizards lacrosse season will be packed with fast-paced action that will please kids of all ages.
