At the end of the 2017 season, Lax Sports Network polled every Major League Lacrosse player to find out exactly who deserved to be named to the MLL Top 25. Three ‘Zards — Paul Rabil, Rob Pannell and Will Manny — were chosen by their colleagues as some of the league’s brightest stars.

#4 Paul Rabil

One of the biggest ambassadors of the game of lacrosse, Rabil had another stellar season for the New York Lizards. He was selected to his ninth straight All-Star Game and finished the season as the league’s fifth leading scorer.

Rabil’s 2017 season included many SportsCenter-worthy highlights, such as a May 13 game against the Atlanta Blaze in which he scored five goals in the first half alone.

Rabil, a midfielder, joined the New York Lizards in 2015. He was the MVP of the MLL Championship game New York won that year.

#5 Rob Pannell

Pannell is another one of Major League Lacrosse’s brightest stars. In an injury-shortened season, he was still the MLL’s third-leading scorer. Pannell recorded 23 goals, 26 assists and 15 ground balls in 11 games. The Lizards’ top attackman helped drive the team to victories by tallying five points in three separate contests.

Pannell, who is from Smithtown, entered the league in 2013. In 2016, he broke the MLL’s single-season scoring record with 74 points.

#19 Will Manny

Manny is the Lizards’ newest big name attackman. He led New York’s late-season push to the playoffs after arriving late in the year. In just six games in black and green, Manny averaged nearly three goals a game. He tied Rabil for fifth-most points in a 2017 season split between New York and Boston.

He was selected as No. 19 in the MLL Top 25 for the second straight year.

Manny, who recently signed a deal to remain with the Lizards through 2018, is a graduate of the University of Massachusetts.
